The New York Press Club mourns the passing of longtime board member David Diaz, a TV journalist who covered New York City for many years at WCBS-TV and WNBC-TV, among other outlets. David also served as an NYPC 1st and 2nd vice president, and emcee of many club Awards & Installation ceremonies. Always good-natured, kind and gregarious, he was nevertheless a serious journalist who enlightened New Yorkers as he reported on decades worth of major stories. His performances at the yearly Inner Circle political parody shows were stand-outs. One of the first Latino reporters and anchors in New York City, he was also an educator and First Amendment defender who will be missed.
