Uncle Tom’s Cabin

Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe was published in 1852.  It was the best-selling novel of the 19th century and is credited with encouraging the abolitionist movement. Upon meeting Stowe, Abraham Lincoln is said to have remarked, “So this is the little lady who started this great war.” In these times, everyone should read or re-read it.
