The Mole People: Life in the Tunnels Beneath New York City

The Mole People: Life in the Tunnels Beneath New York City by Jennifer Toth. This book takes you into the harsh realities of New York homelessness during the 1990s, and what the homeless had to do to survive. In many cases, they retreated to the underground train and sewer systems and build communities there. Toth spoke to hundreds of homeless people, cops, and city officials to get an understanding of why solving homelessness is not just about putting a roof over someone’s head.
