Once again, President Donald Trump has attacked the news media, this time revoking the
White House press credentials of CNN correspondent Jim Acosta.

At a White House news conference, Mr. Trump took offense at questions posed by Acosta,
who nonetheless stood his ground, pressed his line of questioning, and did his job.

The president responded by withdrawing Acosta’s White House creden????als, effec????vely
rendering him unable to continue his work.

The White House regularly displays disrespect for the first Amendment and, in some cases,
has incited violence against those working for news organizations.

The New York Press Club calls for the immediate reinstatement of Jim Acosta’s credentials and
defends the right of Acosta and all other White House reporters to question the president
without the threat of reprisal.

The New York Press Club offers its participation in any joint statement or ac????on on the part of
media organizations to end the Trump administration’s maligning language and attempts to
interfere with coverage critical of the president.

It is time for media outlets to band together to end this practice and to thwart future
retaliation.
