Volunteer Judges Sought for Critiquing Period During April and May
The New York Press Club Journalism Awards competition for 2026 is now open. The club is accepting submissions for stories filed during 2025. An enduring tradition in New York media, the Press Club Awards honor excellence in journalism in 30+ categories by writers, reporters, editors, producers and photographers (still and video). The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2026.
Awards are presented at the club’s Annual Awards & Installation Dinner in early June. Winners receive an engraved plaque and are invited to attend the dinner.
The club is also seeking judges with journalism experience (active journalists, retirees, journalism professors) to critique an average of four entries using an online rating form. Judging runs from the close of entries on March 31 until the end of May. Judges are invited to attend the Awards and Installation Dinner cocktail party as guests of the club. (Click here for the judge’s application.)
Entries may be submitted by news organizations or individual journalists. Entrants are asked to review the categories and rules before submitting entries. Until February 13th, the fee is $100 per submission for members and $200 per submission for non-members. After February 13th, the fee will be $125 per submission for members and
$250 per submission for nonmembers.
