Wow!! That was a great story.
Thank you for sharing it. Mr.Van Meter certainly has a gift for expressing his thoughts and feelings via pen to paper....or should I say fingers to keyboad. I hung on every word and was reminded the importance of giving back to others in this life. Most of us will eventually forget WHO won WHAT award (who won the Superbowl 3yrs ago? Ok, how about 2yrs ago?...last year?!), BUT we never seem to forget those people who made a difference in our lives. Mr. Van Meter has helped me to realize just how special Jerry Lewis is. To think that at 83 years old he still cares and is STILL making a difference in people's lives.
Finally, I was happy to see that Mr.VM is not afraid to acknowledge the BIG "G" in his writing. Seems today that we find a lot of the "I" word (I,I,I,I) but the "G" word is a bit taboo.
Well today I salute you all: Mr.Lewis, Mr.Van Meter and GOD!
....and Oh, Ms.Kovar for sharing this.

If I want to submit a story for the blog, do I just send a link to my blog? Or do I cut and paste? Can it include photos?

Thanks!

Hi, first time reader here. Twitter, which I truly don't understand, is a great way to feed news items to a group. TWICE's Twitter site is automatically updated via an RSS feed so each time a story is posted it also goes out on Twitter. Basically it's just a headline and a link, but that is enough.

After just a few weeks we have several hundred followers with about five new people signing on each day. However, the most important aspect is Twitter is driving traffic to TWICE.com.

I still have no idea why someone would use Twitter in their personal life, but it's a great news tool.

Manhattanites had better love their dogs, considering they pay more in rent for them than a human would cost in most places. It's also not very surprising that there's so much space to take a dog out in NYC, since even having a patio dog door isn't effective for them. I can't imagine what some dogs do when their owners have left the apartment for the day!

I am Marty Tankleff's aunt, and Erin Moriarty is one of our family's heros! More like a family member now! It was so refreshing to speak with a reporter {also a lawyer} who was so willing to hear our side of the story. After so many years of being put off by the media, and Suffolk County, we could hardly believe our luck to find someone so forthright, professional, interested and intelligent as Erin. I can't say enough good things about Erin, and her producer, Gail. Bravo Ladies!

Hi Heather--I don't know how easy it is to spot TWD but I do know and see how often the no handheld- cell phone use is violated, at least in North Jersey. How many tickets have been issued in Ct, NY, and New Jersey? I live in the latter and no-handheld cell phone use became a primary offense months ago. I wonder how many citations have been issued, say just in Bergen County.
Here's a thought for Tri-State police: How about "flying squads" of cops, one to a corner, monitoring a busy intersection for one hour. How many violators would they nab?
Here's another one that motorists either don't know about but should, or are plain pigheaded: In NJ, and in NY where the law has been around for a long time, some motorists DO NOT put their lights on when the wipers are on? Frankly, I am not familiar with CT's law in this regard. But in a rainstorm here in Bergen County, I would generalize that there is at least one or two clowns driving without lights when their wipers are on. The reason is clear--give the other motorists better visibilty that you are coming! The laws are there, but what about enforcement and any problems thereof? Good luck to you.

Speaking of useful links, there are two I've recently come across that represent opposite ends of the spectrum for journalists these days.

One is a VENT site called angryjournalist.com - a place for employees whose bosses evidently believe that a slow, withering, fade-out to oblivion is preferable to a proactive approach in embracing how journalism is practiced and delivered these days.

The other is, WiredJournalists.com, where the thrust is quite the opposite.
